OliveX has relaunched its Dustland Discord to be a more community-driven, fitness and game focused channel.
It’s served us well for almost a year but the time has come to bid a fond farewell to the Discord server as we knew it. We’re really, really excited to launch the refreshed and refocused Dustland Discord server, and we can’t wait to get you all started.
The point of the relaunch is simple: OliveX’s mission is to incentivise fitness and wellness as a lifestyle through gamified elements, and to educate and inform our users about health, wellness and fitness along the way. This is, and has always been, a community-based mission, with a forward-looking Web3 and blockchain twist.
Yes. We want our community to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, but we also want it to have some fun!
What We Want FOR You
As we said, Discord was working fine before, but ‘fine’ can always be better — more engaging, more responsive, easier to navigate. And we wanted to find a way to thank you for chipping in when we asked, and for your unwavering support. So what’s new?
- We’ve come up with a new structure for all our channels, which you can check out at #channel-directory. Head there to find your way around
- We’ve started a points system (more on that in a bit) to show our love for what you share and create for us
- We’re doubling down on VIP sessions with our partners, outside fitness professionals, gamers and more, in order to bring more views, ideas and opinions into the space
What are the points for? In all honesty at this stage, we’re not sure, so we’ll be testing ideas and gathering responses from the community to find out what it wants most.
What We Want FROM You
On that note, whether you’re just lurking (boo!) or interacting on the new and improved Discord, we have a few requests for you to get things rolling. Well, less requests and more suggestions. We want you to:
- Find inspiration and make friends on your fitness journeys. If you need your butt kicked a little or want some support, hopefully you’ll be able to find it somewhere in Discord. That’s the point
- Nerd out about games: What’s your favourite, recommendations, what are you looking forward to, what’s hot this week/month, how do you get friends and partners into gaming?
- Remember this is about you. And you. And also you. Dustland and Discord are community-driven, so share and create content that you find interesting and useful
- Don’t be shy about learning about fitness, finding tips and getting advice from experts in their fields
Above all, never ever hesitate to send us useful feedback so that we can keep improving and building a stellar fitness metaverse.
How To Collect Points
- #web3-trending: Get our mods’ attention with original content
Stuff we’re likely to be looking for includes:
- Snappy, smart reviews of reward-based Web3 fitness providers, games and apps;
- Opinion pieces from Medium or blog posts on the future of fitness and the metaverse;
- Dustland reviews;
- New Move-to-Earn (M2E) project reviews, good, bad, and ugly;
- Infographics about Web3, M2E, exergaming, and fitness technology;
- Exergaming research you or your company has published.
If you want your point, post in #web3-trending and make sure you include website/Medium/blog/notion/gitbook/substack links to the published article and sites, and always include your own Twitter handle.
2. #Fitness #Gamers: Share content
Dustland combines fitness and gaming in one. If you read an article or see a piece of research related to exercise, nutrition, recovery or gaming, and it’s something you think the rest of the community would be keen to see too, don’t keep it to yourself. Or if there’s a new game that you love so much and want everybody else to also try, give us the whys! Share what you love to our Fitness or Gamers channel respectively! Just before you hit ‘post’, consider a bullet point summary of:
- Why you found it interesting and why everyone will too
- A fact/figure that demonstrates the above
3. Create a Tweetstorm when possible
We love a good Tweet.
So let’s start by kicking our Dustland GIPHY back into high gear. We’ll give you Buster head to play with and you can design your own GIF. Our only ask is that whatever you create be fitness-, running-, cycling-, or gaming-related. Because duh. When you’re done, tag @the_dustland, @dosetoken, @buster_dustland and #dustlandgoesape, we’ll retweet our favourites — and give some of those brand spanking new points to — the best ones!
For now, take a tour, poke around, get familiar with the new Discord. We’re pretty sure you’ll like what you see.
